A lot of UFC fans might have felt pretty happy to hear and see their beloved UFC color commentator, Joe Rogan, taking the commentary table for fights. Apart from his UFC tenure, Rogan is also a former TV host, a seasoned comedian, and one of the most famous podcasters in the West. His multi-directional works have gained him such fame that even the most elite UFC fighters would find it hard to match.

Also, understandably, there are a lot of fans who are eager to know more about the 56-year-old podcaster. However, Rogan hasn’t been vocal about his personal life on public podiums. Despite having a few public instances of talking about his family, the former martial artist has mostly talked about his wife or kids. Rogan hardly puts out any information about his parents, which keeps a lot of his fans speculating. However, he seems to have a pertinent reason for not talking about his parents.

As mentioned, the noted podcaster and his father had almost identical names. Joe Rogan was born to his parents in the year 1967 in the city of Newark, New Jersey. His father had formerly served as a Police Officer in New Jersey. Reportedly, Rogan’s father, Joesph had Italian ancestry. However he decided to settle down in the US after he visited it in the 1940s.

The podcaster and his father didn’t spend much time together. The Newark native also had never contacted his father since he was seven. However, Rogan has stated that he has some faint memories of how his dad was. On an episode of his podcast, ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’, Rogan revealed his experiences and a lot would agree that they were nowhere near pleasant.

Rogan stated, “My mom and my step-dad are actually very happy, and they’ve been happy since I was seven years old. It’s really weird. All my damage sh*t came from my real father, before I was seven. My real father was crazy, he was like a psychotic person”. He also narrated, “He beat the f*ck out of my mother, he beat the f*ck out of my cousin. He picked my cousin up by his hair, dude.” 

Rogan mentioned his father’s abusive qualities on his coveted podcast and made it a publically known issue. However, Rogan’s 80-year-old father didn’t take too kindly to it. Reports also suggest that Rogan Sr. had challenged his son to have a one-on-one conversation with him on his podcast.

However, he didn’t stop there. Rogan Sr. also filed a lawsuit against his son Rogan and the platform on which his podcast is broadcasted, i.e. ‘Spotify’. He accused them of making defamatory, untrue statements against him.

When did Joe Rogan’s parents get divorced?

Joe Rogan was just five years of age when his father and mother decided to part ways. It was probably Joseph Rogan’s approach, which made Rogan’s mother’s life difficult, and they finally decided to part ways. When he was just seven, Rogan moved to San Francisco with his mother.

In an episode of ‘JRE’, Rogan also stated how his mother’s life had improved after marrying his stepdad. He also revealed how his stepdad was a completely non-violent person. It also helped Rogan erase the previous ‘kill but don’t cry’ mentality that was induced into him due to his father.

‘The UFC commentator’ also revealed how his stepdad helped him to know the other side of life. He compared his initial and current situations stating, “I was pretty humbled and really shy, and really nervous. .. And all of a sudden I’m out here going what the f*ck is life.” It was apparent that Rogan accredited his stepdad for this massive change in him, although his name isn’t available in the public domain.
