The main event fight between Charles Oliveira and Islam Makhachev at UFC 280 was one of the biggest of the year. Both fighters exchanged blows at the Etihad Arena on Oct 22 and provided constant entertainment to the fans. Unfortunately for the Brazilian fighter, he lost the fight as he tapped out in the second round. Thus halting his 11-fights win streak.
The former lightweight champion left the arena with a heavy heart. Afterward, a clip of an emotional ‘Do Bronx’ shedding tears went viral.

While the former champion entered the ring with the intention of claiming back his vacant lightweight title, Makhachev had plans of his own. The Dagestani fighter had another UFC legend, Khabib Nurmagomedov, in his corner. And the game plan worked wonders as the Sao Paulo fighter eventually tapped out in the second round.
Charles Oliveira pouring his heart out
In the viral clip, the fans could see the Brazilian fighter sitting in a corner. While surrounded by his teammates, Oliveira was understandably in a gloomy mood and teared up. Further, we can see Oliveira’s teammates trying to console him.
After ripping apart the lightweight division in 2021, this loss might have derailed the fans’ expectations to see Oliviera on UFC’s Brazil card. The 33-year-old fighter took to Twitter and declared that he needed a break. Further, the Brazilian dismissed the probability of fighting on next year’s Brazil card set to happen on January 22.
How did the fans react?
While some fans pointed out the humane facet of Charles Oliveira, some fans expressed concerns over the privacy infringement of the fighter.
One user commented, “Knowing where he came from to where he is today. Dude has put himself in an incredible position in life. Should be very proud.”
Another user referred to another similar incident. Thus, they wrote, “reminds me of when aldo lost to mcgregor 🙁 so sad”
An MMA fan stated, “Fighters are allowed to have emotions. Chucky Olives is still one of my favorite fighters too. He wasnt a dominant champ but all his fights were finishes. I take much more issue with champs who pointfight and try to make it boring as f*ck [Izzy].”

Another user was irked by this viral clip. Hence, they wrote, “I hate when people take and post this type of footage. Let the man have a private moment. These guys put everything into their craft, the sh*ts gonna be emotional.”
