Remember when Conor McGregor met his lookalike during the UFC 189 world tour? In episode 3 of the Embedded Series for UFC 189, we see McGregor meeting William Joe Tussing in Las Vegas. The Irishman posed for a picture with him, after sternly saying “no smiling.” After leaving the room, McGregor turned to his fiance and said “motherf—er don’t look like me” in his thick Irish accent. This was one of the funniest interactions during the buildup to his canceled fight with Jose Aldo. As it turns out, Tussing is not the only MMA fighter lookalike who has made humorous headlines.
Some of you might even remember Rodney Peterson, the Logan Paul lookalike that Nate Diaz choked out during a public scuffle. Joining the ranks of Tussing and Peterson is Sava Tavberidze. You might have seen him filling in for UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley in some of the troll skits that his UFC 306 opponent Merab Dvalishvili puts out. Today, we take a closer look at the Georgian imposter of ‘Suga.’

Yes, you read it right: Sean O’Malley has a look-alike who goes by the name of Saba Tavberidze. With the kind of influence O’Malley has had on the sport, there’s no doubt people have been following him. ‘Suga’ is also pretty active on his social media accounts and constantly posts entertaining stuff for the fans. It seems Saba Tavberidze has watched all those videos closely and turned himself into a fake Sean O’Malley. Tavberidze is highly active on Instagram, and all of his posts mimic the bantamweight champion and his lifestyle.
As of now, the only information available is that he hails from Georgia and is a content creator by profession. Currently, he lives in Los Angeles, CA, and has 99k followers on his Instagram. He started the persona of ‘fake suga’ in May this year, and since then, he has drawn a lot of fans out there. O’Malley’s next opponent, Merab Dvalishvili, can be seen in most of his posts, and the pair have posted many skits to catch the attention of the champion and the fans.
One of the most famous skits of the pair featured ‘Fake Suga’ and ‘The Machine,’ who pulled off a mock face-off before the UFC 306 fight. Tavberidze can be seen in the famous pink hair, which the original O’Malley uses in some of his appearances. Dvalishvili can be seen wearing a cowboy hat, and the pair engaged in an intense face-off. The best part? His Instagram handle is ‘@notsugasean’ just so people know who they are following.

In another video, Dvalishvili carried the ‘Suga’ lookalike on his back to train the fighter in his garage. While Tavberidze has managed to copy the exact style of the champion, appearance is not the only thing he has managed to replicate.
‘Fake Suga’ also sounds like O’Malley!
The content creator recently took to his Instagram account to share a video for the challenger. In the video, Tavberidze made a song whose lyrics were things O’Malley had been saying he would do in the fight against ‘The Machine.’ However, what caught the attention of many was the way the Georgian native sounded in the video. The voice was tweaked to the exact accent ‘Suga’ has while speaking on his YouTube channel. Some fans event want O’Malley to use this as his walkout for Noche UFC! The bantamweight champion is pretty much aware of the ‘fake suga’ and even took to his X account to comment on one of his previous videos with Dvalishvili.

Let us now shift our focus to the actual Sean O’Malley, who will defend his title against Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 306 next. The 33-year-old has earned himself a title shot after delivering some consistent performances inside the Octagon. He is currently on a 10-fight winning streak but will be facing one of the toughest challenges of his career to date. ‘Suga’ will be defending his title for the second time this year and is pretty confident that he will walk past the challenge of ‘The Machine.’ O’Malley is one of the most elite strikers in the division but also has the ground game to tackle any takedown attempts.
Dvalishvili, on the other hand, is known for his outstanding wrestling skills and supreme conditioning levels. The Georgian will be relentless in his approach, which O’Malley has never faced in his career to date. Can he come up with an answer this time around, as he has done in his career so far? Let us know about it in the comments below.
