UFC flyweight, Joanne Wood will take on a fellow contender in the division, Maryna Moroz at the prelims of the UFC 299 card. Woods has been an active competitor in the UFC for almost a decade now and has been consistently fighting in that time. To put this into perspective, she has fought at least once a year ever since joining the UFC and has fought the absolute best in the division.

Leading up to her fight against Moroz, Woods has a record of 16-8. However, despite her being in the UFC for quite a long time, fans are still not really familiar with the Scottish warrior. Here is a little information on the personal life of Joanne Wood.

UFC flyweight contender, Joanne Wood is married to a retired MMA fighter, John Wood. The couple started dating in 2015 and got engaged in October 2019. John and Joanne Wood finally tied the knot two years later. Joanne Wood does not have a child of her own but is a wonderful stepmother to the son of her husband.

John Wood is currently 44 years old and is currently the co-owner and the coach at Syndicate MMA in Las Vegas, United States. Wood is one of the top MMA coaches in the world and has quite a lot of world-class MMA athletes training under him.

Something about Joanne Wood that most people tend to understand is her love for the sport of MMA. Unlike most people who take time to settle down after getting married, at least for a few weeks, Wood would go straight into training camp and face Taila Santos not long after her marriage.

Matchup between “Jojo” and “The Iron Lady” at the UFC 299

Both Joanne Wood and Maryana Moroz have officially weighed in at the right weight limit for UFC 299. Going into the fight, Wood and Moroz will get the chance to start the event being the first fight of the night. “Jojo” is coming in as the smaller fighter in terms of height and reach as she stands at 1.68m with a wingspan of 1.66m to “The Iron Lady’s” 1.7m height and 1.7m reach.

Joanne Wood would also be the older fighter going into the fight but she has more experience. Going into the fight, the Scottish has a better striking and takedown percentage with 6.93 significant strikes per minute with a 54.55% takedown accuracy to Maryna Moroz’s 4.15 significant strikes per minute and 22.22% takedown accuracy.
