While the whole main card hasn’t quite been revealed just yet, the few fights we do know of are rather amusing. The most important one, perhaps, is Sean Strickland going up against Dricus Du Plessis.

That’s right, the two middleweight fighters are set to go up against one another. There are also interesting fights on the preliminary card that are worth discussing through and through. Moreover, there are probably interesting fights that could pop up as White plans the card further. Let’s dive into what we already know.

As UFC 297 approaches, the buildup to Sean Strickland vs. Dricus Du Plessis gets wilder and wilder. The two went from trash-talking each other brutally during a press conference to getting into a fistfight that went pretty viral pretty fast.

That’s right, at UFC 296, Strickland was seen jumping at Du Plessis and barreling him with his fists after Du Plessis openly invited him to get into a brawl. The two just can’t seem to wait. And perhaps the fans will also share their sentiment. We also have Jan Błachowicz going up against Aleksandar Rakić during the prelims.

On the same card, Neil Magny will also be seen once again as he takes on Mike Malott, a fighter who has won ten out of his 12 fights, with one going to a no-contest and the other ending in a loss. This card, too, might see some changes as time goes on.

On the main card, we have a women’s bantamweight match set up. The title is currently vacant since Amanda Nunes announced her retirement in 2023. Now, two brilliant potential champions will be locking horns for a chance to win it. The 2nd ranked, and the 3rd ranked fighters, Raquel Pennington and Mayra Bueno Silva, have risen to the occasion.

More about UFC 297

The women’s bantamweight fight was rumored to headline the very first pay-per-view of the year 2024. However, fans were not quite pleased with that bit of information. However, the middleweight championship contest would soon be announced. And much to the relief of the displeased fans, the bantamweight fight is actually a co-main event.

So perhaps Dana White and Co. will add more interesting fights to the overall card to keep it exciting and hyped. Strickland and Du Plessis are clearly already trying their best to sell the fights. Will they be able to bring in the numbers as well? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
