Brazilian strawweight contender Amanda Ribas has had mixed outcomes in her last few fights, where she won one and lost the other. After biting the dust against former 2-time champion Rose Namajunas in her only UFC fight in 2024, the 31-year-old will be opening up her 2025 account at UFC 311 when she takes on Mackenzie Dern on January 11.
Amanda Ribas made her debut in the promotion back in 2019, and after racking 4 wins on the trot since her debut, she was dubbed as a fighter to look out for in her division. She has jumped between the strawweight and flyweight divisions but has currently set sights on the 115-pound division after her 125-pound return earlier this year didn’t go her way. But the fight’s in January, and now that Ribas is one of the fighters in focus, let’s take a look at her on a personal note.

Amanda Ribas, as of right now, is single, according to sources and her social media handles. The 30-year-old used to date a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner named Julio Arantes. But there are reasons to speculate that the two have broken up as of now. Since Amanda Ribas isn’t one to give too much of her personal life out to the public, it all boils down to assumptions.

But given that the Brazilian has taken down the majority of the pictures of Julio Arantes from her Instagram account, it is safe to assume that the UFC star doesn’t want her 2.8 million Instagram followers to think that she is in a relationship. And this happened both ways as Arantes removed pictures of Ribas from his social media accounts, too.

Amanda Ribas is certainly one of the more interesting fighters in the roster with a charming personality to back up her lethal skills inside the Octagon. But now that we have established her romantic life, let’s take a look at her early life.
About Amanda Ribas’ family and personal life
While details of her mother around available in the public domain, Amanda Ribas’s father is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu coach, who also holds expertise in Muay Thai as well. Hence, getting into martial arts was a no-brainer for the 31-year-old, and she started training under her father, Marcelo Ribas until she made it to the national level, playing with judo youth teams. However, she’d have to stop as the 12-5 strawweight’s judo career was cut short after she suffered some serious knee injuries, which was bad news for her because all she wanted to do was compete. But then she found MMA during UFC’s International Fight Week, which “motivated” her.

“There was a time when I stopped doing jiu-jitsu to dance. My father wanted to die… I had two knee surgeries, and it made me very discouraged,” Amanda Ribas told ‘FloCombat’ in 2017. “I didn’t want to know about fighting anymore. My life was to train and hurt. But then I saw the staff training for an MMA tournament, and it motivated me [to go to the UFC’s International Fight Week].”
Moreover, Amanda Ribas’s brother, Arthur Ribas, also had a brief stint in MMA, holding a 7-1 record, but now is an official member of his sister’s team. He will surely be there for her at UFC 311 as the 31-year-old will seek to turn her luck around when she fights Mackenzie Dern.
