The latest update in the UFC pound-for-pound (P4P) rankings has caused quite a stir in the world of mixed martial arts. Recently, Jon Jones expressed his disapproval of the update in the P4P rankings of the fighter he has tied up with. He cordially confessed his frustration to Alexander Volkanovski at the ESPYS and told him that he simply didn’t like it.
Volkanovski tied Jones for the top spot on the list after his recent win at UFC 290. The pair were both present at the ESPYS and incidentally ran into each other for the first time. Two of the greatest mixed martial artists of the modern era, the pair had a wholesome interaction during their brief meeting.

Jon Jones expresses displeasure with the current P4P rankings
Jon Jones and Alexander Volkanovski shared a couple of pleasantries at the ESPYS. However, Jones didn’t fail to express his disappointment with the fellow fighter. He said, “I feel like I know you already. Hey, we’re tied (#1 P4P). We’re tied. Who does that? Two? Who does that? I don’t like that.”
‘The Great’ has climbed back up to the #1 spot in the P4P rankings after successfully defending his title at UFC 290 against Yair Rodriguez. Surprisingly, ‘Bones’ also stands beside the Australian in the same spot. Jones expressed his surprise at the decision but had nothing but respect for Volkanovski.
With the UFC heavyweight champion opening up, Volkanovski did nothing but agree with ‘Bones’. It was indeed the first time the duo met each other in person. Thereafter, the fighters posed together for a couple of photographs, alongside the welterweight champion, Leon Edwards.
Interestingly, Jones was not the only fighter dissatisfied with the P4P rankings.

Islam Makhachev was not happy with the rankings either
In an interview with ‘YukaHero’, Islam Makhachev lashed out at the UFC for the pound-for-pound ranking. He was particularly upset because he wasn’t at the top, even after defeating Volkanovski. The fire went even higher, when Jones claimed the throne with just one victory after his return.
