The tension between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov is all too familiar to the UFC world. Their animosity began a few months before UFC 229 in 2018 when Nurmagomedov secured a victory over McGregor by submission. Despite the passage of almost half a decade since the fight, the rivalry between the two UFC legends remains fresh and hot. There were several occasions when McGregor crossed all the boundaries and trash-talked against the former UFC lightweight champion.

The Irishman received huge criticism when he mocked the death of Nurmagomedov’s late father. Even now, when asked about each other, the two magnificent fighters have nothing good to say about each other. Recently, Nurmagomedov even came forward with a savage reply against the former UFC two-division champion’s behavior. ‘The Eagle,’ who usually treats everyone with respect, finds it hard to do the same with ‘The Notorious.’ Let’s dive deeper to find out what Nurmagomedov said about McGregor’s trash-talks.

Khabib Nurmagomedov shut down Conor McGregor
Former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov was having a candid conversation on the PBD podcast. During the chat, Patrick Bet-David mentioned the bout between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov, which broke all the PPV records in the history of the UFC. Later, he asked ‘The Eagle’ whether he internalized McGregor’s insulting words before and after the bout. As a reply to the question, the Dagestani fighter said, “I like to listen to people when they talk. It’s very interesting because you can listen to them and you can understand where is their IQ. You understand what I mean?“

Talking further on the topic, Nurmagomedov detailed, “If you are stupid, what you can do? You cannot do nothing. How you can if you cannot handle with yourself? How are you gonna control myself? How like if you cannot control yourself… if you cannot control your family, you have to be quiet just don’t talk in front of a lot of people because they’re gonna understand who you are. It’s better don’t talk, you know.” According to the UFC Hall of Famer, McGregor is someone who finds it hard to control himself. Hence, he strongly believes that the Irishman does not have the capability to control his opponent.

‘The Eagle’s manager insults ‘The Notorious’
The rivalry between Nurmagomedov and McGregor grew to such an uncontrollable level that even ‘The Eagle’s manager developed strong emotions toward the Irishman. Nurmagomedov’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz, has insulted McGregor on several occasions. Back in June 2023, McGregor took to X to claim that he was the pound-for-pound king of the UFC. When Abdelaziz came across the words of McGregor, he made sure that he reminded ‘The Notorious’ about the pathetic loss he faced against Nurmagomedov.

When McGregor wrote, “I’m the pound for pound king forever,” Abdelaziz tweeted in response, “no, NO, you’re Khabib’s bi..cth forever.” Abdelaziz has always tried to bring McGregor down, as he dislikes how ‘The Notorious’ considers himself superior to others.
However, there is no doubt that ‘Mystic Mac’ has a huge fanbase. Presently, they are desperately waiting for his comeback to the UFC octagon. What are your thoughts about Nurmagomedov’s take on McGregor? Let us know in the comments below.
