The UFC 301 card will only feature a couple of women’s matchups. One of those encounters will feature ‘The Polish Princess’ Karolina Kowalkiewicz going toe-to-toe against Iasmin Lucindo, who has been in the UFC for quite some time now. However, when it comes to details regarding her personal life, fans don’t seem to have too much information.
Iasmin Lucindo became a part of Dana White‘s promotion about a couple of years ago. Having defeated the likes of Polyana Viana and Brogan Walker, the 22-year-old is now looking to seal the deal against a much more experienced Karolina Kowalkiewicz. But before we talk about that, let us have a peek into her background.

Iasmin Lucindo decided to jump into the same profession that many of her predecessors from her native country of Brazil got into, mixed martial. Being born in the city of Rio de Janeiro, the 22-year-old is of Brazilian nationality. Lucindo always had the knack of getting into martial arts just like the many Brazilians who’ve significantly contributed to not only martial arts but to the sport of MMA. As such, she started training at the age of 13, while her first professional fight came at the age of 14.

When we turn over to talk about the ethnicity of Iasmin Lucindo, she hasn’t opened up about it in public. When it comes to parents, their identities have been kept private. On the other hand, the 22-year-old’s dream of being a professional MMA fighter is backed by a scary truth. Lucindo only became a pro because she had to defend her mother.
What was Lucindo’s reason for becoming an MMA fighter?
Iasmin Lucindo is one of the youngest fighters on the entire UFC roster. Moreover, she became a professional competitor at the unusually tender age of 14, and she had an important reason behind it. She revealed her struggles in an interview with MMA Fighting. “I’ve always loved sports, but what drove me to learn more was to learn how to defend myself and those around me,” the 22-year-old told the interviewer.

The Rio de Janeiro native also opened up about those distressing experiences of watching her mother and other family members getting subjected to domestic violence. “I’ve seen that happen many times in my family. It made me really, really angry. I’d see that and tell myself I never wanted that for my life, so I had to know how to defend myself and other women in my family in case it happened again,” Iasmin Lucindo added.
The days of struggles are now behind the strawweight star as she will seek to maintain her winning ways this weekend at UFC 301. It remains to be seen if she can edge past the more experienced Karolina Kowalkiewicz with the support of her hometown.
