Bobby Green was born in San Bernardino, California in 1986, but he didn’t get the love and care of his family like any other normal child. A few years after his birth, he would tragically be taken into the foster care system, for the simple reason that his family was extremely dysfunctional.’ King’s father, Mitchell Davis, went to prison when Green was still a toddler, and his mother, Connie Scott Davis got addicted to drugs, making her unfit to take care of her children. As a result of this, Green was taken from his mother’s custody, and with no one else in his family to look after him, he became a ward of the state.
Green’s troublesome childhood resulted in him acting out in school as he wore all-black make-up, painted his body white, and even shaved his head, but he soon found another outlet for his angst. The California native would start wrestling in high school and soon became pretty good at it, being placed twice in the State tournament, where he proudly represented his A.B. Miller High School. It was, therefore, natural for him to try and earn a living as a combat sports athlete, but ‘King’ had to overcome significant challenges in his martial arts journey, too.
Already a father by the age of 21, he started his career in Mixed Martial Arts while working in a warehouse so that he could provide for his son. Green fought for Affliction Entertainment and Strikeforce before making it into the UFC in 2013, and with nearly 50 fights in his pro-MMA record, he is one of the most experienced fighters on the UFC roster.
Bobby Green is a father to three children. His first son is named Jeremiah. Green had him shortly after being ejected from the military. While his relationship with Jeremiah’s mom did not last long, Green still supported the child financially, having suffered from a lack of family as a child himself.

Meet Jacob Behney: Green’s foster father
Bobby Green’s story is heart-touching in many ways. In foster care, he crossed paths with Jacob Behney, who would not only prove to be a great foster parent but would also become Green’s coach to guide his career forward. “This is my father. I was born in foster care. I didn’t have a mother or father,” Green said about Behney in a post-fight interview after defeating Clay Guida in 2020. “They gave me away. My father wasn’t fit to be my father. This is my dad here, Jacob Benny. He’s been there since the beginning. He’s done everything.”

“He’ll lay his life down for me, I’ll lay my life down for him. I don’t judge any man on the color of their skin but on the content of their character. We’re here, we love. It doesn’t matter what color, it’s all about love,” Green added.
Clearly, love has won over the fighter. How do you feel knowing more about the UFC star’s story?
