A lot of UK fighters have made waves in the UFC, with two of them being current divisional champions. But for Molly McCann, it’s been a mixed bag with 7 wins and losses in her UFC run. Nevertheless, she shined in her last fight against Diana Belbita and is hoping to do the same in Manchester on June 27 when she locks horns with Bruna Brasil at UFC 304.
Having started her martial arts training before becoming a teenager, Molly McCann spent her early days as an MMA fighter competing in her native city of Liverpool and supporting herself by working at a Subway outlet. Moreover, she’s always maintained her loyalty to the only gym ‘Meatball’s ever trained in.

It’s been more than a decade since Molly McCann associated herself with Next Generation MMA in Liverpool. Moreover, after making her debut in the promotion where Conor McGregor first became a double champion, Cage Warriors, she encouraged many women to start training in MMA in her gym. Next Generation MMA also has another UFC fighter, who’s also Molly McCann’s teammate and friend, Paddy Pimblett.

Now, when it comes to Molly McCann’s coaches, she has a couple of them. In fact, these two coaches are arguably two of the most sought-after MMA coaches in the UK, based in Liverpool, named Paul Rimmer & Ellis Hampson. Let’s get to know them a bit more.
Meet Paul Rimmer: McCann’s coach
The facility at Next Generation MMA in Liverpool is well-equipped with all the necessities that a fighter at any level could possibly need. All that’s because of head coach Paul Rimmer. Along with fellow coach Ellis Hampson, Molly McCann’s coach is well-versed in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and wrestling. In fact, 2001 was the year when Rimmer decided to spend the year training at Next Generation, but never became a pro fighter himself.

Regardless of his decision to not become an MMA fighter, Molly McCann’s coach did compete in a plethora of BKK and submission grappling tournaments, and guess what? Paul Rimmer even earned a well-deserved BJJ black belt as well. Meanwhile, the other coach Ellis Hampson competed in high-level MMA, but would later join McCann’s head coach to implement the system they developed at Next Generation.
There’s no doubt that Molly McCann’s got great coaches and teammates behind her. But can she keep painting her winning ways with their help? We will find that out when UFC lands in Manchester at the end of this month.
