The welterweight fighter is a veteran of the sport through and through. One does not attain the acclaim he has without hard work and the right guidance. As per several reports, he is trained under the excellence of Travis Lutter at Phalanx MMA Academy. Lutter is a notable personality in the MMA world and has trained several other fighters like Justin Wren and Javier Obregon.

Moreover, it bears mention that Travis Lutter is a fighter himself and was competing under the UFC banner for a substantial period. Not to forget, he also has a black belt in Jiu-Jitsu, a laudable feat in itself. Safe to say, he has all the pedigree in the world to train other formidable fighters, and Holland is in safe hands.

These skills topped with his Kung Fu got Holland the amateur welterweight championship titles at Premiere Combat Group, and Belts of Honorious. But the world of mixed martial arts wasn’t enough to keep him rooted. After winning a few professional MMA fights under the banners of Xtreme FC, Genesis Combat Sports, and KOTC, the ‘Trailblazer’ tried his luck at XKO kickboxing. Out of the 3 bouts, he won 2 and lost 1.

But this doesn’t mean that the gym is safe from other influences. In this age of social media, expecting a troll to show up in one’s life is not uncommon. That said, this particular troll actually showed up at Holland’s gym.

When an internet troll showed up at Kevin Holland’s gym

Back in 2023, an internet troll texted Holland on Instagram asking him to fight. The troll claimed that he would submit the UFC fighter without having any professional fighting experience under his belt. His message caught the attention of the welterweight who was quick to respond. In his reply, Holland asked him to come to his gym for a spar.

When the two eventually sparred, Holland beat the brakes off of him with ease. On his X account, he shared snippets of their spar wherein the fan is getting beaten up brutally. While sharing the clip, Holland captioned the post and said, “This troll thought he was a tough guy or skilled or some BS. So I put his a** on a bus, paid for his hotel room, and brought him in for a session.”

Moral of the story: Holland is not a fighter to be messed around with, and there are consequences for being a troll. However, one might argue that Holland should not have indulged with the troll in the first place.
