Interestingly, ‘Sugar’ comes into the fight as an underdog. The fans and the UFC champion alike have questioned his credentials as a challenger. Sterling recently pointed out, “There’s only one guy that he’s actually beaten by a split decision that’s still in UFC, and that’s Petr Yan. Everybody else, they’re no longer in the UFC company.”
Therefore, UFC 292 is the perfect stage for O’Malley to silence his critics. A win against Sterling will not only make him the undisputed champion, but also secure his legacy as a fighter.
