Jon Jones undeniably proved himself inside the Octagon as he submitted the Frenchman, Ciryl Gane in UFC 285. Jones’ heavyweight debut not only impressed the fans but also raised debates about who the real G.O.A.T. is. One such comparison was between Jones and Khabib Nurmagomedov. However, the father and coach to the former lightweight champion believed that ‘Bones’ was indeed one of the best and could swipe out the top five heavyweights.

The former mixed martial artist, Brendan Schaub, recently took the debate on ‘The Schaub Show’. During the talks, Schaub addressed an old video where Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov claimed that Jones was, in fact, the greatest of all time. Without a doubt, the comment from Nurmagomedov’s father seemingly concluded the debate and put a stop to it.

Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov thought Jon Jones was the G.O.A.T.

In the latest episode of ‘The Schaub Show’, the boys stumbled upon a debate towards the end of the show. The debate revolved around who was the actual G.O.A.T., Jones or Nurmagomedov. Immediately, a video of Nurmagomedov’s father was brought up that helped the world get to a conclusion.

In the old video, Nurmagomedov said, “Jon Jones got his talent from god not Greg Jackson. Greg Jackson is a good striking coach. Don’t confuse these things. Jon Jones is #1 out of all fighters. Maybe not in terms of behavior, or the law, or something else. But I’m confident that he’ll wipe out the top 5 heavyweights, except two guys. Two guys are uncertain, but he’ll wipe out the rest. That’s my expert opinion.”

The words seemingly convinced Schaub. He said, “I’m with him though. That kinda solves the G.O.A.T. debate, right? When your dad is like, ‘he’s the best”, man.” Nevertheless, the world of MMA would continue having such debates in the future.

Jon Jones’ heavyweight debut

Jones recently debuted in the heavyweight division of UFC against ‘Bon Gamin’. Although the former UFC light heavyweight champion was out of action for three years, he could still manage to secure a victory in the very first round.

Jones took down Gane and grappled with him till he tapped out in the first round itself. Without a doubt, this was one of the major comebacks in the history of the sport. Nonetheless, his actions made sure that he was still undisputed and was on the road to more greatness.

‘Bones’ has amassed a 27-1-1 MMA record, whereas ‘The Eagle’ has a professional record of 29-0-0. Their respective fans consider them one of the greatest in MMA and thus arguments about who the ultimate G.O.A.T is, are brought up. While Khabib Nurmagomedov has retired, Jon Jones is still going strong.
