Conor McGregor is by far the most influential personality in the world of mixed martial arts. Many also know the Irishman as the pay-per-view king of the UFC because of his popularity and the numbers he brings in. The former double division champion is well recognized outside the MMA community as well.
Conor is friends with athletes such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos. He often supports them on his social media as well. Once Conor also had an interaction with the Olympic swimming legend, Michael Phelps.
Phelps called out ‘The Notorious’ on Twitter. But this callout was different. It was not for a fight, but in fact, it was for a swimming race. He wrote, “all of this talk… Should we race as well??”

The tweet went viral on the internet and got over 100,000 likes. Phelps jokingly asked McGregor to a race after the Irishman has suffered a defeat to Floyd Mayweather in a boxing match and he had lost a race to a shark. Sadly, fans never got to witness the race between the Irishman and the American champion.
Recently, many fans have criticized that Phelps has a biological edge over other swimmers because of his height, weight, and his foot size, which are bigger than the average swimmer.

McGregor has shown interest in taking on the reigning welterweight champion Kamaru Usman and he wants to challenge him for his UFC title. Another fighter McGregor could face on his return is his former opponent, Nate Diaz. The Diaz-McGregor rivalry goes back to 2016.
Both fighters have one win against each other in the books. A trilogy bout would be just perfect to settle their differences.
