Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov took their beef inside the Octagon at UFC 229. The build-up of their rivalry had a horrific episode, the Brooklyn bus attack. For this reason, even UFC commentator Joe Rogan was verbal about his opinion of the altercation. Rogan criticized ‘The Notorious’ on the April 16 edition of The Joe Rogan Experience podcast.

Moreover, the attack resulted in Ray Borg’s eye injury, which forced the 24-year-old to be taken off the UFC 223 card. Following this Rogan said, “Switch it around; imagine if Ray Borg threw that dolly and Conor was inside”. Perhaps Rogan felt McGregor faced little to no consequences after attacking the bus.

Rogan also shared a news piece highlighting the severity of Ray Borg’s injury. “Look at it this way: Ray Borg was on that bus and he got his eyes cut. He got corneal Abrasions cuz Conor threw that dolly at the bus and I mean, who knows what’s gonna happen to Ray’s eyes,” said Rogan.

In fact, Rogan believed UFC gave McGregor ‘special treatment’. “He’d be gone, his career would be over. That’s one of the more f–ked-up things about this is that you know Conor is getting special treatment. He is, and that’s not good for anybody,” added Rogan. Although ‘The Notorious’ faced multiple charges of misdemeanor assault and one count of felony criminal mischief.

Joe Rogan thinks UFC used the Brooklyn bus attack to sell the Conor McGregor vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov fight

In JRE MMA Show #45, Rogan shared his thoughts on the aftermath of UFC 229. The stand-up comedian didn’t shy away from criticizing UFC further. “This is theatrics; this is hype. But in all fairness, the UFC used that to sell that fight. I mean, that was a big part of their promotional campaign. Was seeing Conor throw the dolly at the bus and then screaming and yelling,” said Rogan.

Rogan also spoke about the use of mental warfare by fighters in combat sports, especially by Conor McGregor. McGregor’s win over Jose Aldo looked too easy, but the use of mental warfare before the fight was crucial. But Rogan also feels that McGregor fell short against ‘The Eagle’ who didn’t fall for the trash-talking of the Irish UFC Superstar.
