Is Joe Rogan's decision to host Trump a betrayal of his own principles or a strategic move?

Joe Rogan has changed his mind about having Donald Trump on his podcast, reportedly this Friday, October 25. The UFC commentator hosts the Joe Rogan Experience, the biggest, most influential podcast in the English-speaking world, which has a loyal fanbase made up of mostly young men.

This demographic, of course, is the strongest supporter of Trump this election cycle, polls have shown, and an appearance on the JRE will probably help him shore up his core voter base. And this decision is quite a U-turn for Rogan, who had previously said that he would never have Trump on his podcast.

Why? Because Rogan didn’t want to do anything to “help him [Trump].” So much so that the UFC commentator disregarded and actively went against most of his fanbase’s wishes to see the former President on Rogan. Not to mention the Texas resident and Trump had a minor kerfuffle earlier this year.

Joe Rogan, of course, had praised former Presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy (who dropped out of the race later and endorsed Trump) as being the most ‘reasonable’ candidate in the 2024 election. And Trump, seemingly incensed at Rogan’s ‘endorsement’ of Kennedy had tweeted: “It will be interesting to see how loudly Joe Rogan gets BOOED the next time he enters the UFC Ring??? MAGA2024.”

That, however, doesn’t seem to have upset Rogan in any way, who is planning to have the former President on his podcast. While Rogan has had a fair few politicians on his podcast including Bernie Sanders, who was running in the Democratic Presidential primaries back in 2020. But this will be the first time Rogan has an official Presidential candidate from one of the two major parties on his podcast. However, it seems Donald Trump may not be the last one in this cycle alone.

Kamala Harris’ team in talks to go on Rogan’s podcast as Donald Trump confirmed as guest

According to reports, Democratic presidential nominee, VP Kamala Harris‘s team is in talks to go on Rogan’s podcast. And for very similar reasons as her Republican opponent. The sitting Vice President, who took over as the Democratic candidate after President Joe Biden dropped out earlier this year, is struggling with young male voters.

An appearance on Rogan’s show would provide Harris with a valuable opportunity to connect with his predominantly young male audience, allowing her to build rapport with a demographic she might not typically reach. Beyond potentially swaying a portion of Rogan’s listeners to support her, she could also aim to persuade some Trump voters to abstain from voting in the upcoming election, thereby weakening his base.

However, unlike Donald Trump, who is confirmed to be going on JRE, Harris’ team is reportedly only in talks with Rogan at the moment with no confirmation whether or not she will indeed make an appearance on JRE.

But Rogan deciding to have Trump on his podcast this October may make the sitting VP much more inclined to do the same. What are your thoughts on Donald Trump finally going on the JRE podcast? Tell us in the comments below!
