The former double champion will now appear in his first-ever Hollywood movie called ‘Road House’, which is a remake of the 1989 cult classic of the same name.
Conor McGregor hasn’t fought in the UFC for over two years. He lost his last fight against Dustin Poirier and even injured his left leg by fracturing his tibia and fibula. Conor McGregor became the fourth fighter after Randy Couture, Ronda Rousey, and Georges St-Pierre to transition from MMA to Hollywood. Moreover, he landed a role in the remake of Patrick Swayze‘s 1989 starrer, ‘Road House’. The movie will also have former Oscar nominee Jake Gyllenhaal play the leading role. The 1989 version of the movie saw Swayze as a Ph.D. bouncer who worked to restore order at a notorious bar in a town controlled by a ruthless crime boss.

However, Conor McGregor and Jake Gyllenhaal starrer will see the latter dawn in the role of a former UFC middleweight fighter, ‘Elwood Dalton’, who takes up a job as a bouncer at a roadhouse in the state of Florida. However, he later discovers that things are not as they seem.

Moreover, McGregor has been speculated on portraying the character of ‘Jimmy Reno’, which was portrayed by Marshall Teague in the 1989 version of the movie. But nothing has been disclosed yet. Furthermore, McGregor and Gyllenhaal even shot a couple of scenes of their movie during the UFC 285 weekend.

The reimagining of ‘Road House’ will be released late in 2023, but the official date is yet to be announced. Moreover, the movie is directed by Doug Liman, who is famous for his work in movies like ‘Edge of Tomorrow’ and ‘Swingers’. Meanwhile, Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry have written the script for the movie. Additionally, Joel Silver is the producer of the movie and even produced the 1989 version as well.

Conor McGregor and Jake Gyllenhaal both looked absolutely chiseled and ripped. ‘Notorious’ also shared a few behind-the-scenes images of his acting debut, captured in the picturesque setting of the Dominican Republic where it is being filmed.

Amazon Studios has highly prioritized the reboot of ‘Road House’ since 2021. The Studio executives worked day in and day out since then with writers Bagarozzi and Mondry. They constantly worked to rewrite the story until they arrived at the final product. Amazon Studios are looking to knock the remake out of the park after a disappointing sequel in 2006. We will have to wait and see how Conor McGregor’s acting debut fares at the box office when it releases.
