The anticipation for the Israel Adesanya vs. Sean Strickland match has reached its peak, with fans from both sides passionately voicing their opinions. However, Adesanya enjoys a significant advantage here, as his fanbase far outweighs that of his opponent. Initially, Adesanya is supposed to face off against Dricus du Plessis, but an unfortunate shoulder ailment necessitated his withdrawal, thereby clearing the path for Sean Strickland to assume the role of substitute fighter.

Recently, Dana White held a press conference in the context of the Dana White Contender Series. During the conference, he addressed a question regarding the potential fight involving Dricus du Plessis against the winner of the Adesanya vs. Strickland matchup.

The media questioned Dana White about the prospective bout involving Dricus du Plessis and the victor of the Adesanya versus Strickland encounter. Taking the mic, he emphatically declared that he didn’t know anything about such a contest. White said he preferred to wait for the outcome of the match between Adesanya and Strickland on Saturday instead. He also took an indirect jab at du Plessis for turning down a fight in the past. White declared, “You know how much I love when guys turn down fights. I don’t know we will see what happens from Saturday and we will go from there ”

Dricus du Plessis was one of the few fighters who supported Dana White and the UFC amid the ongoing anti-trust lawsuit controversy. Du Plessis in a direct response to former UFC fighter Cung Le, who proposed the change to make UFC an open market like boxing, stated that the open market has done no good to boxing.  He took to his Instagram story and expressed, “Indeed, as if that approach did wonders for boxing? @ufc stands as the paramount organization globally.”

The ongoing feud between Adesanya and Dricus Du Plessis.

Dricus du Plessis withdrew from his fight against Adesanya, citing the need to recover from a shoulder injury. Both fighters had a personal feud between them, which began when du Plessis made comments that ‘Izzy’ interpreted as questioning his African heritage. Matters escalated at UFC 290, where the two engaged in a hostile face-off filled with expletives following DDP’s victory over the former middleweight champion, Robert Whittaker.
