‘The TIME’ makes a list to recognize those who significantly contribute to the world. TIME has been publishing this list of 100 people on a yearly basis since 2004. The list of 2016 featured former UFC superstar Ronda Rousey alongside Hollywood star Dwyane’ The Rock’ Johnson and NBA legend Stephen Curry. Actress Tina Fey also suggested that Rousey could finally help women understand that they define the word “feminine” and that the word doesn’t define them.
This was Rousey’s first time making the list. In an interview with TIME, she said, “I was at the open workouts for the Holm fight. And I tried to go and see every single person because I really want to be the People’s Champion.” She added, “This lady… she was dying of cancer, and she came to that open workout and stood out in the sun and all this stuff, so she could have a chance to meet me.”
