Conor McGregor has had a lot of memorable moments in the UFC. The charismatic Irishman was as skilled on the microphone as he was in the cage. McGregor’s trash talk gave some moments that are popular and iconic today. Many athletes inside and outside the sport have copied McGregor’s lines and persona as well.

However, there was one rare instance when Conor McGregor himself borrowed another line from a popular celebrity. During a press conference, McGregor delivered another famous line that was, in fact, borrowed from Kanye West years ago.
When Conor McGregor stole Kanye West’s line
Conor McGregor and Rafael dos Anjos were set to face each other at UFC 196 for the lightweight title. At the time, McGregor was coming off of his record-setting victory over Jose Aldo for the UFC featherweight title. The pre-fight press conference for the event took place in Las Vegas.
McGregor wore his infamous ‘El Chapo’ Versace shirt to this press conference. ‘Mystic Mac’ was in his usual run of form as he went after Dos Anjos while making predictions for his fight. During the press-conference, Dos Anjos called himself a tool in Jesus’ hand.
He warned McGregor would find out what a tool of Jesus would do to him when they fought. McGregor responded saying, “Me and Jesus are cool. I’m cool with all the gods. Gods recognize gods.”

This would later go down as a famous McGregor line, but it was, in fact, originally used by Kanye West. “Anybody that’s a god can recognize a god,” West said during a now classic interview with ‘The Breakfast Club‘ in 2013.
McGregor vs. dos Anjos later fell apart as the latter pulled out due to injury. McGregor went on to face Nate Diaz on short notice. This fight would mark the beginning of one of the greatest rivalries in UFC history.
McGregor once blasted a reporter for a Jesus question
The Irishman is one of the most hot-headed superstars in the sport. ‘The Notorious’ brings fire to his fights, face-offs, and press conferences. He also has a reputation for not tolerating disrespect.
During an old interview from ‘TMZ’, a reporter asked McGregor a ridiculous question: who would win if he fought Jesus? McGregor laughed it off and said if Jesus were to come back alive and fight him, he’d “whoop his a**.”

McGregor encountered the same reporter years later. This time it was after a press conference for the first Diaz fight at UFC 196. The reporter asked if a certain term that McGregor called Diaz was racially motivated. McGregor immediately put the reporter in his place.
“Mate, shut the f**k up and get away… Remember that Jesus sh*t you brought up? It was such a stupid question.”
