The 188 was the first boat Conor McGregor bought, and he gifted it to his father. The boat was named “The 188” after the amount in euros of social welfare the Irish champion got before becoming famous.

Tony McGregor, Conor McGregor’s father, revealed that at one point, he almost sold off the 188. According to Irish Mirror he said, “To be honest with you, I was looking at another boat, and I did go to view one last year in France, but I was pipped to the post on that. I’m happy with the 188; I’m still getting great seasons out of it, I’m still getting great fun and great adventures on it.”
