Starocci won the NCAA Division 1 Title recently, and Burroughs was on the commentary table for the event. During the course of it, Burroughs made some intriguing comments about Starocci’s knee injury. According to the commentator, opponents should have targeted Starocci’s knee.

Moreover, Burroughs also hinted at targeting the NCAA winner’s knee if the two ever faced each other. “I tell you what, if him and I meet each other in the bracket, I’m going right for that right leg.” These comments did not go well with Bo Nickal, who chose to speak against the commentator. The UFC star tweeted about this incident, calling Burroughs ‘unprofessional’.

“Really classy Jordan Burroughs as a commentator saying you’d target Starocci’s injury in competition,” Nickal tweeted on X. “Sad that you think that way and even if you do you should keep that to yourself it’s unprofessional. For all your accomplishments I’d expect more.” Both MMA and wrestling enthusiasts were shocked to see Nickal take a stern stand for his injured contemporary.

On the other hand, Burroughs gave a short but impactful reply. “You punch guys in the face for a living. Shut up.” Later, Nickal made some more comments clarifying his statements about Burroughs.

The controversy did not end there! Just days later, the UFC star talked in more detail about what he disliked about Burroughs’ statement. “He always tries to act like an ambassador for the sport and, ‘Oh, congratulations to Penn State, I’m so proud of you guys and what you’re doing.’ Bro, you’re a freaking fraud. You just want to make it about yourself.”
