UFC 278 was touted to be one of the best UFC events of the year and it delivered. The card opened with a banger, with the early prelims and prelims delivering, what was expected out of them.
The headliner for the prelims saw two heavyweights collide. The up-and-comer prospect Alexander Romanov vs a 15-fight UFC veteran Marcin Tybura.
The pair were originally set to face each other at Romanov’s debut, but King Kong had to pull out. Eventually, the fight took place at UFC 278.

How the Fight played out
The fight began with Romanov straight away getting into a grappling exchange. The Moldovan completely overpowered Tybura in the tussle.
King Kong kept Teeing off the Polish with solid ground n pound. At the end of the round, Commentator Joe Rogan praised King Kong. Rogan said, “just throws a 240 pounds man on the ground like a sack of potato”
Round 2 saw both men tired and exchange half-hearted strikes. Romanov tried shooting a few takedowns, but they were defended well by Tybura. Towards the end of the round, the 31-year-old slipped due to which Tybura took the top position and went on to land a few ground and pounds of his own. The round end with the polish taking Romanovs’s back.
The final round started with both fighters actively landing kicks. Both fighters were exchanging blows on their feet. There were evident signs of exhaustion. Romanov was getting into a little bit of showboating while Marcin stayed disciplined throughout.
The fight went to the judge’s scorecard and Marcin Tybura was announced the winner by Majority decision.
The loss is the first career defeat to the 31-year-old Alexander Romanov. Tybura on the other hand, got his career back on track with this win. Although a major upset, still big things are in store for both the heavyweights in the upcoming further.
