Another relationship drama has set the UFC ablaze. In a recent turn of events, Paulo Costa and Tracy Cortez sparked a frenzy among fans with a rather ‘cozy picture.’ What followed was a wave of speculation and rumors, but thankfully, the buzz is slowly subsiding – thanks to ‘Borrachinha’s recent clarifications.
But even if things take a turn for the better, Tracy has an upcoming fight that needs all her attention. She’s squaring off against reputed flyweight Jasmine Jasudavicius at UFC Fight Night in September. Therefore, it’s all the better if she has someone supporting her amid all the buzz and distractions.
Luckily, she has an MMA veteran rooting for her, and he thinks that she may have what it takes to shut down all critics. Now, UFC icons Josh Thompson and Big John McCarthy have come forward to back Cortez, with all hopes of a comeback from the #14 Flyweight, after her long absence from the octagon.

Tracy Cortez is a ‘sweetheart’ – says UFC Legend ‘Big’ John McCarthy
In a recent episode of Weighing In, Josh Thompson and ex-referee Big John McCarthy sat down to discuss the recent developments in the UFC.
Jumping onto Paulo Costa and Tracy’s recent antics, John voiced his support for the flyweight, saying, “I really like Tracy Cortez…I like her attitude towards fighting and she’s been doing great fighting with Brian Ortega and everybody on the internet anyway…”
The revered ex-UFC referee further added, “She is a sweetheart…whatever happened with her and Brian – that’s their business…sometimes things don’t work out, that’s okay.” A heartfelt confession from such a revered figure definitely goes a long way in boosting Tracy’s morale.
What’s more – MMA analyst Josh Thompson voiced his support and opinions on Tracy’s upcoming fight. Thompson shed light on Tracy’s absence from the UFC, stating, “She hasn’t fought in a while so this is a tough fight to come back to…”
But keeping all his doubts aside, the analyst admitted that Cortez is a fierce flyweight. Thompson chimed in, “…There’s no doubt – she’s good, she’s talented, she’s young.”

Cortez’s last fight was way back in May 2022, when she won against Melissa Gatto by a decision. Therefore, it’s quite the uphill challenge to make a comeback against a hardened Jasmine, who just competed in a bout last month.
Tracy is unbeaten since her professional debut in 2019. With a boastful record of 10-1, she has proven her mettle.
