Al Iaquinta is getting ready to make his return to the octagon at UFC 268 against veteran lightweight Bobby Green. And although the 34-year-old is happy to be competing once again, he’s not particularly happy with the UFC announcing the bout without official confirmation from his management.
According to Iaquinta, there were a few contractual issues that he was hoping to address before confirming the fight. However, it seems like the UFC took matters into their own hands, putting Iaquinta on the spot.
In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, ‘Raging’ Iaquinta gave his take on the situation, making the following statement.

“I was kind of disappointed that they announced the fight the way that they did because they asked my manager about the fight and I was like, ‘Yeah, we’ll take the fight, but I’ve been out for a while and there’s a few things with my contract that are unclear. I’ve been trying to get a hold of Sean Shelby and Hunter [Campbell] for the last week and a half, two weeks, and I haven’t really heard back from them’, explained Iaquinta.“I was watching the fights on Saturday and I fell asleep watching them. I woke up and looked at my phone and I had 9,000 messages — Instagram this and Twitter that. I’m like, ‘What the hell is going on?’ And then I’m seeing they announced the fight. I was like, ‘What the f*ck? I haven’t signed a contract yet.’
Considering his relationship with the UFC, Al Iaquinta is confident the UFC will address his concerns with the contract. Nevertheless, this incident points to another problematic practice undertaken by the UFC repeatedly.
Following a two-fight, Al Iaquinta has been out of action dealing with several injuries. After multiple surgeries for his nose and knees. The Wantagh native will hope to make a statement as he makes his comeback against the veteran striker come November 6th.

Al Iaquinta vs Bobby Green
Both Bobby Green and Iaquinta are coming off two losses going into this matchup. However, there is a significant difference in the level of opponents both fighters have recently fought. Regardless, Bobby Green is a well-rounded fighter with great skills. His crisp boxing and elusive head movement make a treat to watch. Similarly, Al Iaquinta, although primarily a wrestler, has come a long way in terms of his ability to strike, with victories against the likes of Jorge Masvidal and Kevin Lee.
