In an interview on “Unlocking the Cage with Jimmy Smith”, Jones stated that he decided to move up to heavyweight because he lacked fear in the light heavyweight division. He also said that the financial rewards of competing at a higher weight class were also a reason for his move. However, Jones‘ reasoning did not go well with Sonnen. He was not very convinced by Jones being “scared” of Gane.

“You’re scared of Ciryl Gane who’s 1-1 in his last two and called you the GOAT and basically was drooling when asked about you? You’re scared of him? I’m open to hearing that,” said the UFC veteran.

“What part, what is it that you’ve seen Ciryl Gane do that you haven’t seen other opponents? What part of that is fearful? I would personally be interested in that,” said Sonnen as he questioned Jones. Jones is yet to make any statement in response to Chael Sonnen.

Jon ‘Bones’ Jones’ return is one of the most anticipated fights in the UFC. First, there were rumors about him facing Francis Ngannou. But since Ngannou did not renew his contract with UFC, Dana White found Gane to be the perfect fight for Jones.
