A great walk-out song has the potential to hype up the audience, intimidate your opponent, and let a fighter get into the zone before they step into the Octagon! Professional wrestling in the 20th century was a key influence in the use of entrance music as wrestlers like Gorgeous George pioneered the usage of songs to make their ring walks theatrical and memorable while enhancing their personas. In the early days of MMA, Wanderlei Silva made Darude’s ‘Sandstorm’ an iconic part of his entrances in PRIDE FC.

With his unique hairstyle and unconventional fighting style, Paddy Pimblett has also made great usage of entrance music to rock the UFC audiences before his fights. But what is the song he walks out to and what made him choose that particular tune? Let’s take a look and learn all we know about ‘The Baddy’s entrance theme and the story behind it!

Paddy Pimblett’s walkout during his UFC Fight Night 204 appearance in 2022 was marked by the crowd chanting his name to the tune of, “Oh, Paddy the Baddy” indicating his immense popularity. The same chant had echoed through arenas during his days fighting in the Cage Warriors promotion, as well.

The walk-out then gets taken to another level when the first notes of his song begin to play and ‘The Baddy’ makes his appearance through the entrance tunnel, handing out high-fives! The song in question is a mash-up of different songs that was custom-made for Pimblett.

It starts off with ‘Lethal Industry’ by Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano before transitioning to ‘Heads Will Roll’ by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. In an interview with BT Sports, Pimblett revealed that, “Years ago I used to come out to rap. My first nine amateur fights and my first four pro fights, I came out to rap. Then I lost.”

The Liverpool native further stated that at the time he was into the party scene and was listening to a lot of house music. While he did like ‘Lethal Industry’ by itself, ‘The Baddy’ confessed, “But it never dropped into a good song, it goes a bit stale.” This led him to try to come up with a solution as he revealed, “So I asked Ant Chandler, a former Garlands DJ who used to come to my gym, to mix these two songs together for me. It’s basically my own remix! He put the two songs together for me.”

Now, as he gears up to take on Bobby ‘King’ Green at UFC 304 on July 27, Paddy Pimblett has revealed that while this may be the last fight on his contract, he still has his eyes set on the top of the lightweight division!

In a recent interview with MMA Junkie, Paddy Pimblett confessed that despite his current contract coming to a close with the UFC, he’s not really keen on going to a different promotion and competing under their banner. Pimblett stated, “UFC is the cream of the crop. It’s the main place. When you say to people, ‘I do MMA.’ Most of them go, ‘What’s that?’ You say, ‘UFC.’”

The Liverpool native is currently undefeated in the promotion and will be facing no.15 ranked ‘King’ Green at UFC 304, a fight that has the potential to propel him into the 155 lbs. division rankings. As such, Pimblett further stated, “Obviously, if I fight again this year, then I’m going to want to fight someone else and get in the rankings, and I’m going to want to fight someone higher up in the rankings…”. It remains to be seen what’s next for ‘The Baddy’s future in the UFC, but come July 27, the Co-op Live in Manchester will be rocking out to Paddy Pimblett’s electric walkout theme!
