The currently 38-year-old, former UFC star, Nate Diaz, was born in a rough and poverty-stricken neighborhood of Stockton, California. He has also broken down his childhood struggles on camera multiple times. Once he revealed that there was a time when his family didn’t know where they would get their next meal. Diaz has also stated that he initially joined jiu-jitsu classes just because they fed the practitioners with hot dogs after their training sessions.

It was Nate’s elder brother Nick who made the first efforts to draw them out of poverty. After showcasing some real prowess during his martial arts training days, he decided to take up MMA professionally. ‘The elder Diaz’ soon became a name in the rising sport of MMA as he fought for multiple promotions around the world.

This also inspired Nate to follow in his brother’s footsteps. ‘The younger Diaz’ soon made it to the biggest global MMA promotion, the UFC. Both Diaz brothers also earned heavy cheques along with their fights, finally relieving their family from their poverty. The noted MMA coverage house, ‘MMA Junkie’ reported Diaz’s own promotion will also hold boxing and jiu-jitsu bouts apart from MMA.

Diaz also released a press statement about his promotion for media outlets. It read, “Nathan Diaz will be applying for his promoter’s license in the coming weeks to form Real Fight, Inc., a new promotion that will focus on promoting combat sports shows, specifically boxing, MMA and BJJ. The new venture has no bearing on his status as a fighter, where he will continue to be very active. Real Fight, Inc. is his expansion into the business side of the sport where he has been a fixture for close to 20 years.”
