The famed former UFC light heavyweight champ, Jiri Prochazka, stunned fans when he defeated the massively experienced Glover Teixeira at UFC 275. It was only Prochazka’s third fight in the UFC. It has also made a sizeable chunk of them wonder about the genres of martial arts he has trained in.

There are a few reports that say Prochazka displayed a violent personality even after training in martial arts. He used to get into several fights on the streets. This is why his coach gifted him with a book named, ‘The Book of Five Rings’, almost a decade back. It is a book by the legendary Japanese swordsman named Miyamoto Musashi which primarily focuses on how to build a life governed by the ‘Bushido Code’.

The ‘Bushido Code’ is a set of principles that used to govern the lives of the famous Japanese warrior clan, the Samurais. Prochazka got so much into ‘The Book of Five Rings’, that he started applying its principles on his own life and training. This is exactly how he developed the incredible striking skills that an enormous chunk of UFC fans have witnessed during his time inside the octagon.

‘Denisa’ has himself labeled ‘The Book of Five Rings’ as his “bible”. He also stated, “It’s showed me the right way on how to do these martial arts”. UFC fans can thank his coach in this regard. Otherwise, they could’ve never had such incredible slug-fests inside the octagon that Prochazka has provided them with. But will his ‘Bushido Code’ guided training be enough to get the better of his next rival?
