At this point, Conor McGregor is just finishing side quests by beefing with celebrities. Or so it would seem with the latest situation he’s gotten himself into. The Irishman has seemingly gotten into a one-sided beef with pop superstar Akon.

For those new to Akon, the artist was all the heat in the years 2000 through 2010 and even before then. He has changed the landscape with brilliant songs one after another. This includes songs like ‘Lonely’ and ‘Locked Up,’ one of which McGregor decided to perform for himself and his fans, leading him to X jail. Here’s the story.

Conor McGregor gets in troubled waters with Akon

Akon is a celebrated singer and humanitarian. He spent years creating brilliant music and even collaborated with others such as Eminem. Now, he has put himself to the task of reinventing and bettering his home, Senegal, and Africa in general. However, it was the Irishman who would bring him to a different level.

Conor McGregor uploaded one of his notorious audio clips singing Akon’s song ‘Locked Up’. The hit that was released about 20 years ago still sounds great, even coming from a UFC fighter. However, perhaps Akon and company weren’t too pleased with it.

McGregor was very quickly locked away from his X account after being slapped with a copyright infringement. “Your account has been locked because X received a compliant Digital Millennium Copyright Act (“DMCA” notice for content posted to your X account),” said the notice on his account.

While he would soon recover his account, the fun wasn’t over just yet for ‘The Notorious’. He would instead go on to his Instagram and upload a story captioned “Akon not happy hahaha.” To take things one step further, he would release a free-style diss against the artist on his stories too.

McGregor disses Akon

McGregor is rather notorious for deleting his posts. But it’s never quick enough for people to not notice. He decided to freestyle a little diss track against the singer-songwriter. He delivered it via his Instagram stories and while it may not be on par with the likes of Akon’s friend Marshall Mathers, it was for sure interesting enough.

“Akon, what’s wrong? I was only signing the song. It wasn’t even that long. You need to take a chill pill or a hit of the bong,” he said. “Song’s out years, Donkey Kong. In the back of the ranch, they weren’t expecting me own little song.” McGregor and his diss will perhaps be written down in history someday. For now, they’re making headlines.
