UFC women’s bantamweight contender, Mayra Bueno Silva, is indeed one of the most dominant fighters in the bantamweight division. Coming out of a fresh loss in her last bout, she is indeed trying to get a win at UFC 303. She has managed to showcase her superiority in grappling by finishing 7 opponents by submission. However, her fight against Holly Holm had her step away from competition for some time.
Silva’s previous fights inside the octagon have been absolutely incredible to watch. She even outclassed the former UFC flyweight champion, by submitting her in the second round, with a unique ninja choke. But the fight had to be ruled a no contest after she tested positive for some banned substance.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission (NASC) busted Silva after she tested positive for ritalinic acid during her urine test. The no.3 ranked bantamweight contender suffers from ADHD and takes Ritalin for her mental health, as prescribed by her physicians. She revealed that she has been taking the medication for the past three years and has never had issues with it. She later also disclosed that she had to stop taking the meds on Monday of the fight week.
Regardless of the reason, The Nevada State Athletic Commission (NASC) came to a unanimous decision to overturn her win against Holm as a no-contest. The NASC also fined Silva 15% of her purse, which was around $11,250, and her legal fees cost $314.50 alongside a suspension of four and half months.

The suspension expired on November 29th and ‘Sheetara’ got the chance to fight for the championship belt against Raquel Pennington. Although the fight resulted in a loss for the Brazilian, she got ready to showcase her fighting skills on the Octagon against Macy Chiasson.

Mayra Bueno Silva, in an interview with MMAJunkie, revealed to the interviewer about her future plans after she wins the title at the upcoming UFC 297. Sheetara revealed that she grew up in a community where she experienced poverty. Her goal now is to change the lives of others after winning the vacant bantamweight title.

She stated, “I think this is my motivation… to change lives. I want to change my community. For me, everything is about this. It’s not about the UFC champion. It’s about Mayra as the champion will change lives.” Revealing the importance of the fight, not only for her but for her community as well.
