After the first-round victory in his heavyweight debut against Ciryl Gane, Jon Jones is set to go against the UFC heavyweight #1, Stipe Miocic. With the rising talks about the fight, the public began placing their bets on the fighters. Surprisingly, the new heavyweight champion became the betting favorite with a 3:1 odd against heavyweight #1.

In the recent episode of ‘Bad Guy Inc’, the former mixed martial artist, Chael Sonnen, talked about the odds. The odds, in fact, caught the former fighter off guard as he questioned the reason behind the decision. Furthermore, he asked the audience how could ‘Bones’ defeat Miocic, if even Daniel Cormier had a hard time against him for 15 rounds. Nevertheless, Sonnen stayed adamant and kept denying the betting odds.

After the UFC president, Dana White, declared that ‘Bones’ would indeed fight ‘The Silencer’, the betting began with Jones becoming the fan favorite. The odds on the current heavyweight champion, as reported by BloodyElbow, were substantial with a value of -360. Surprisingly, the odds for Miocic were one-third of that of Jones, with a value of +295.

The 3:1 odds surprised many in the world of mixed martial arts, and Sonnen was undoubtedly one of them. In his talk show, Sonnen revealed that he assumed the odds would be in the 2:1 ratio. He said, “From the start of this piece, telling I thought Jon would be a two-to-one favorite. Three-to-one, that’s strong. Three-to-one. Now, how’s he gonna beat Stipe?”

Furthermore, Sonnen compared Jones’ skills with that of DC as he guessed the reason for the 3:1 odd. He said, “What Daniel Cormier could not do in fifteen rounds, Jon’s just gonna go out and throw Stipe down? Do you really believe that? It’s one of those things, Jon’s gonna pick him apart on the feet, he picks everybody else apart. Maybe, maybe that’s what you think. He’s gonna pick him apart while avoiding the takedowns of Stipe, who was a division one wrestler? I don’t think you’ve come to a conclusion that’s three-to-one.”

Stipe Miocic responds to ‘Bones’
