You might win your fight inside the Octagon, but what about the larger stage we call life? Heavyweight title contender, Curtis Blaydes had to go through a hellish experience when he first stepped into the huge doors of UFC. After winning his second fight under the promotion against Cody East, Blaydes gave the first interview of his career under the promotion and he stuttered.
Blaydes was happy about his victory and ready for more. However, his excitement and happiness were short-lived. Why? That’s because the toxic fans started accusing Blaydes of having Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) which is a severe and fatal brain injury that could claim lives. ‘Razor’ was annoyed by the accusations and finally once revealed the original condition he had, so let us get deep into it and find out.

The toxic fans of the sport started an intense indirect abuse against Blaydes for his stammering issues. It became so bad that Curtis Blaydes was annoyed by the content comments. The accusations of having CTE got under his skin. After taking the abuses for so long, ‘Razor’ couldn’t handle it any longer and confessed in front of the world that he was suffering from a condition. However, it is far from CTE.
‘Razor’ revealed that he is suffering from a speech impediment.“I have a speech impediment, if you’re not intelligent enough to understand that I didn’t get it from a brain injury, then I don’t know what to say,” the Naperville, Illinois native revealed in an interview last year with MMAMania.com. “It’s just random people who don’t take the time to find that out, like, bro, it takes 15 seconds to Google. I don’t feel the need to address it unless someone directly talks to me about it,” the fighter added.

I just post what I want to and then don’t look at the comments but even then what these people are saying is just meaningless,” claimed Blaydes.
Blaydes has now been at peace with the scenario. The Naperville, Illinois native is gearing up to clash against the current interim heavyweight title holder, Tom Aspinall. The fight is a must-win for ‘Razor’ but he is not keen on the timings of the event.

‘Razor’ is not amused by the timings of UFC 304
UFC 304 will be happening in the bustling city of Manchester after years. As much as the fans are excited to witness the fight, the fighters seem to be less willing to take the fight. Why? “The biggest difference is it’s gonna be like 4 a.m., and that’s what doesn’t really feel like a real title fight. You wouldn’t have McGregor fight at 4 a.m. regardless of where it is in the world. That makes it feel a little less, but I don’t care. I’m getting the title fight purse money. That’s all that matters. If I’m tired five minutes before they call my name, I guess that’s on me. If you can’t get up for a title fight, you don’t deserve it. That’s my preparation,” said Blaydes during UFC Denver’s media scrum.
Aspinall also addressed the unnecessary timing for the fight, however, the promotion has to cater to the US audience as well. What is your take on the situation? State your thoughts in the comments below.
