UFC star Jorge Masvidal is set to make his highly anticipated return to the Octagon. The 37-year-old will be making a return for the second time this year, following a devastating loss to Colby Covington. Although Masvidal is coming off three successive losses, ‘Gamebred’ is still considered to be a fan favorite.

During a recent interview with MMA Junkie, UFC fighter Gilbert Burns talked about how he and Masvidal have “Verbally agreed” for a fight soon.

“Nothing done yet–a lot of talks about the fight with Masvidal–he verbally agreed. I did too,” said the Brazilian.

The Brazilian goes on to talk about how November feels like an ideal time for him to make his return but mentioned that the fight might not go down until December or January 2023.

“They’re just figuring out the date. No date yet. November was too close, … so December or January. At least I know I have an opponent. Just figuring out the date right now.”

Durinho also said that he would enjoy fighting on the Brazil card (UFC 283)

Burns mentioned that although Masvidal has suffered three defeats in his last three fights, he does not see that as a problem. “Even though he’s coming from losses, it’s just from Kamaru and Colby it’s not like, ‘Oh, he’s been destroyed,’” The Brazilian believes that both Usman and Covington are two of the best fighters in the division and that losses to them should not hinder Masvidal’s status.

Jorge Masvidal on his fight with McGregor

In a recent interview with MMA Fighting, ‘Gamebred’ expressed his interest in fighting the Irishman. He also mentioned that while a bout with McGregor was his top priority, the Irishman’s inactivity and recent Hollywood talks have derailed the talks.

The 37-year-old also brought up his interest in fighting the Brazilian but stated that he could not be sure of the timing. He talked about how he still had certain legal issues to deal with after Covington accused Masvidal of punching him outside a restaurant in March.

“I’ve got to heal myself up, and also, not to be a Debbie Downer, but I do have some legal issues I’ve got to take care of and address, then I’ll get right back on the murder scene. I’ve got three felonies they’re charging me with. So I need to handle this, then it’s back to breaking faces,” said the 37-year-old.
