The world of Jamahal Hill came crumbling down this Thursday. ‘Sweet Dreams’ seized the headlines as he disclosed his injury woes to the combat world in an emotional video. The 30-year-old sent shockwaves as he relinquished his UFC gold. Facing a lengthy layoff, he harbors only one regret, not going blows for blows against Jiri Prochazka.

Just like his foe, the American fighter’s tenure at the top was cut short after he suffered a torn Achilles reportedly during a basketball game. With no concrete timeline of return in sight, the American fighter decided not to hold down the 205 lbs division. Who knew his much-awaited first title defense against ‘Denisa’ will fall apart eerily similarly to the Czech fighter’s tale? Is it the end of their much-anticipated showdown? Both fighters don’t think so.

Prochazka wrote a heartfelt message when he heard what had transpired with his future opponent. The 25-2-1 record holder surrendered the championship when he suffered one of the worst shoulder injury in UFC history. The gutsy fighter trained hard to mark his comeback and snatch back the title that he never lost. However, with his adversary sidelined with injury woes, he could only appreciate Hill.

He penned, @JamahalH Man, I’m so sorry, I was really looking forward to our Fight. I appreciate your release of the title. Only a person who has experienced this situation can appreciate such a thing.”

The Chicago born turned to his Twitter handle as he responded to the heartfelt message. “Unfortunately, we’re going to have to wait a little bit,” he had announced a few hours earlier. The 12-1 record holder reiterated the same in his response. Not only did he ask the former UFC champion to bid time but also expressed his excitement to meet him in the Octagon.

Hill replied, “Thanks Champ!!! We will have our dance for sure!!! Hold things down in the mean time and can’t wait to see you across the octagon from me!!!”

Prochazka had clinched the title against Glover Teixeira at UFC 275. After a tumultuous time in the LHW division, Hill claimed it. Thus, a clash between them was all but inevitable. Despite both fighters being in rehabilitation, both are ready to go to great lengths to keep their promise.
