UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou took to social media and shared an inspiring post of his return home to Cameroon, Africa. Chiefly, this was Ngannou’s first trip to his home country after becoming the undisputed champion of the world. He has made several trips to Cameroon in the past and shared the experience of his travels with fans.

However, his most recent trip was nothing short of spectacular as the entire Cameroonian community gathered to celebrate Ngannou’s success. ‘The Predator’ was seen going down a procession in Baite, Cameroon, with trails of supporters flocking him. For anyone who has heard Ngannou talk about his dream of returning home with the belt, it truly was a feel-good moment.

It’s clear that Ngannou wants to inspire the people of his home country and serve as a beacon of hope. He’s openly spoken about the hardships he’s faced growing up and he firmly believes that the region needs someone to look up to. Africa as a whole has become a flagship for MMA with three UFC champs, including Ngannou, hailing from the region.

Francis Ngannou leads the pack at heavyweight

The landscape of the heavyweight division has changed greatly with the recent announcement of an interim title fight. Ngannou was supposed to defend his undisputed strap against Derrick Lewis next. However, that fight is not happening. Instead, Lewis will face Ciryl Gane at UFC 265 for an interim title that no one really thought was needed.

The general consensus is that the UFC needed a marquee headliner for UFC 265 and decided to tack on an interim belt. Ngannou and his management spoke out on the issue and expressed sheer confusion over the decision. However, Dana White came out in full force and backed his decision to put an interim belt on the line.

Despite the recent shake-up, all roads back to the undisputed heavyweight title of the world lead back to Francis Ngannou. He has been bullish in his pursuit of dominance and is keen to ensure he remains the king of the hill.
