Francis Ngannou‘s release from the UFC has created major news in the world of MMA. The never-ending contract negotiations took a while and culminated in an ‘unfruitful’ conclusion. The former UFC heavyweight saw himself head out of the door, leaving the faithful MMA fans disappointed. Fans were also eagerly waiting to see the UFC heavyweight championship bout between Francis Ngannou and Jon Jones, but alas, it will all just be a dream for the fans. One UFC legend has voiced his opinion regarding the controversial decision by the UFC. Furthermore, he explained that the situation is like a ‘death’ which subsequently calls for ‘mourning’.

Chael Sonnen calls for a ‘mourning’ owing to Francis Ngannou’s release

The UFC Legend took to YouTube on his controversial podcast to share his opinion. Chael Sonnen said, “Francis was a gentleman.” Furthermore, he added, “Right, I mean we are dealing with a death. And we have to mourn this and we want to be really appropriate. Be really careful when you are speaking about somebody once they are gone…”

Furthermore, Sonnen added, “For me to call this a death is a stretch. But it is a death of a career. So if you’re a friend or family member and you lose that member to the other side or if you’re just a fan of the sport and your favorite athlete is now gone, it’s still a death. It’s still a mourning process and this is still going on. You would still watch your tongue on how you speak about them.”

What Chael Sonnen thinks about the future of Francis Ngannou

The former UFC middleweight didn’t have many positive words about the career of Ngannou. He is of the opinion that ‘The Predator’ is not starting a ‘new chapter’ in his life.

The controversial legend added, “The story of Francis Ngannou was not ongoing from this point. This is not a new chapter and let’s see what tomorrow brings. That’s not what this is. So be careful on how you speak about him. This is a downtime for some. And if you want to remember him fondly, I think that would be fair.”
