Francis Ngannou created history becoming the third current African champion in the UFC roster with his scintillating knockout win over the consensus greatest heavyweight of all time, Stipe Miocic, at UFC 260 in UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The newly crowned champion is currently eyeing a rematch against Derrick Lewis.
Speaking to Ariel Helwani recently, Ngannou said, “For the first time I am the man making the call. I don’t have to sit down and wait for people. They’re waiting for me and I am ready. I can choose to fight and want to fight maybe two times this year.”

“As I said, I am ready to fight as I said I want to fight in Summer, maybe in August so I can survive in December. Let’s go. Derrick Lewis is there. I think we have this fight that never really happened. We have to give the fans what they deserve,” added the UFC heavyweight champion.
‘The Predator’ fought ‘The Black Beast’ at UFC 226. However, the fans were far from impressed with the duo on that occasion. With two knockout artists like them involved, straight-up fireworks were expected. But the fight turned out to be one of the most boring of all time due to the super cautious approach from both fighters, especially Ngannou.
Is Derrick Lewis vs Francis Ngannou the fight to make next?
Ngannou is considered the scariest power puncher to ever grace the UFC Octagon. But Lewis is someone who can rival ‘The Predator’ in that aspect. ‘The Black Beast‘ is at the top of the mountain for the most knockouts in the history of the UFC.

So, one might understand why the first contest between the duo was such a disappointment to the fans. Ngannou wants to give the fans what they want and rematch Lewis.
‘The Black Beast’ knocked out Curtis Blaydes in a devastating manner recently. Now with Ngannou at the helm, talks of a rematch against Lewis have intensified. Lewis happens to be the only other fighter than Miocic to hand ‘The Predator‘ a loss in the UFC.

Also, one can only imagine the entertainment in store if both fighters decide to come out swinging for the knockout with all guns blazing in the rematch. The fight certainly makes a lot of sense.
