A number of UFC fans had expressed disgust over the noted UFC Welterweight, Khamzat Chimaev, after missing weight for his UFC 279 bout against Nate Diaz. On top of all, the ‘undefeated in UFC’ fighter was of the opinion that he wasn’t responsible for his failure to make weight and flipped off the audience after missing weight. This action further added on to magnify the wrath of UFC fans towards ‘Borz’. But a recent Instagram reel revealed that despite his ferocious in-octagon persona, Chimaev was rather a child at heart.
Chimaev revealed how he viewed his opponents in the reel posted by ‘UFC CORE’. Further, most fans were touched when the Chechnyan native presented his simplistic wishes of getting back to his home and having food made by his mom. The reel garnered a massive amount of reactions, including a healthy number of comments from the fans as well.

Initially, Chimaev revealed how he perceived his opponents in different ways inside and outside the UFC cage. With his imperfect English, ‘Borz’ stated, “I’m respect all my opponents. But, I’m here in the cage, no respect. Nobody. I have come to kill somebody and take my money. Outside, Respect all the guys. I like to speak with my opponent, joke with them.”

Despite such a clear nature, Chimaev failed to understand why a large chunk of fans hate him. He lamented, “I don’t know why people hate me sometimes”. ‘Borz’s’ next words appeared as if they were truly coming from his heart. It was probably these words that had the fans lauding him.

“Make Money, be happy. Pay the tax. It helps my mama. She’s been waiting for me. I called her before the fight, ‘Mom, I come soon home, I eat your food”, said Chimaev.
Most fans presented their touched emotions in the comments section of the post. Some of them read:
- I think sometimes we forget fighters are human just like us.
- Pay the tax, he’s a nice guy
- I love khamzat and I actually think he’s gunna keep winning idk why he hasn’t had a fight in so long tho?

But as we all know, it’s really tough to find 100% appreciation for anything in this world. In this case, too, there were a few negative ones. Their comments read:
- Dont eat her food bro, your rich
- I just missed weight by 7lbs what’s the big deal?
While it’s apparent that some fans were still holding on the Chimaev’s weight-missing grudge, most fans had already accepted him as one of their favorites.
