The main event of UFC Fight Night 229 has been confirmed. Lightweight fighters Grant Dawson and Bobby Green will headline the event, which is scheduled to take place on October 7. The clash between Dawson and Green will be held at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The bout is crucial for ‘KGD’, as it’s his first-ever UFC event where he is going to headline. Dawson, who is from the American Top Team, has not lost in his last twelve fights. The 29-year-old joined the promotion through Dana White‘s Contender Series and has a record of 8-0-1 in the UFC, with five wins by stoppage, including four by rear-naked choke.

‘KGD’ captured the attention of the fight fans by putting forth an entertaining fight during UFC Vegas 76. During the bout, he locked horns against Damir Ismagulov in the co-main event. After capturing a glorious victory against Ismagulov via unanimous decision, Dawson shocked the MMA community by calling himself the future replacement of UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev. Now, the lightweight star has received the enormous opportunity to headline a UFC event. However, the fight fans are not so optimistic about the upcoming event of Dawson.

After winning against Ismagulov, Dawson went for a wild claim against Khabib Nurmagomedov‘s protégé, Islam Makhachev. He said, “Islam Makhachev you’re the GOAT, but I am your replacement.” Dawson has just lost a single fight in his fighting career, and it seems that he may receive a title shot in the near future if he maintains his winning streak. Now, ‘KGD’ will lock horns against yet another tough fighter, and that’s none other than Bobby Green.

Green took MMA fans by surprise when he won against the former UFC interim lightweight champion, Tony Ferguson. Green defeated Ferguson by arm triangle choke when there were just six seconds left for the bout to end. This helped him greatly recover from the losses he faced against Islam Makhachev and Drew Dober. When the fight fans learned about the bout between Dawson and Green, they were divided.

Most of the fans were not happy about Dawson and Green headlining UFC Fight Night 229. Moreover, they felt that both of these fighters were not great enough to fight in the main event.

However, the fan also feels that big money is involved in the bout. A fan claimed that the bout was crucial for Green as it could give him more important fights in the future.

From the reactions of the fans, it is clear that they are not at all happy with ‘KGD’ and ‘King’ headlining an event. According to them, both fighters are not interesting enough to be the main attraction of an event. A few fans even predicted that Green would lose the bout, as Dawson is much stronger than him.
