Khabib Nurmagomedov is inarguably one of the greatest fighters to be a part of MMA. The legendary fighter had an incredible MMA career of (29-0) and was one of the most dominating UFC champions ever. Nurmagomedov last competed in the UFC back in October 2020. ‘The Eagle’ had faced Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 and defeated him via a 2nd round submission.
The fighter has since been retired and has expressed no desire to fight again. After his retirement from the UFC, ‘The Eagle’ purchased the Gorilla Fighting Championship (GFC), which was a Russian MMA promotion. Nurmagomedov later renamed the promotion to Eagle Fighting Championship (EFC).
Now, during a recent interview, Nurmagomedov was asked about the future of his promotion and which fighters he would like to sign. ‘The Eagle’, said, “There are some fighters we are interested in, like Vartanyan, Yusuf (Raisov), Shlemenko. We are really interested in signing Shlemenko.”

“Because we have good fighters at this weight class like Santos, Artur Guseinov, and also our champion. I don’t know. There are 4, 5 fighters which are interesting for us. We are also negotiating with some US fighters. I think we will have some signings by the end of the year. We would like to sign 5-6 names.”

They even asked Nurmagomedov if they were currently in talks with Shlemenko. He replied, “Well, I said there were some fighters. I am always in touch with him and I mean Sasha. I don’t think it’s right to, there has to be some professional distance.”

‘The Eagle’ also talked about which fight he would personally like to see. And the fighter also revealed a big event they are planning for later this year.

He said, “Why? I personally would like to see Shlemenko vs Guseinov. I think this would be a great fight. The thing is, we are planning a big event in Moscow in November. We will soon make the announcement. Did you ask why? Because the guys want to compete, to fight, they want big fights.”
