In a recent interview with MMA junkie, Gilburt Burns talked about the upcoming fight between Leon Edwards and Colby Covington. He claimed that ‘Rocky’ would be a good matchup for ‘Chaos’. He stated, “I think it’s a good match-up for Leon to be honest because well, Kamaru had a lot of success against Colby when he was southpaw.”

Burns explained that Edwards has the tools to beat Covington, considering his reach is massive and would prove essential for him to grab the win. “And for sure they both wrestlers so that kind of changes a little bit but Leon is very long. His reach is very big. It’s going to be easy for him to stuff the takedowns and defend and keep the fight on the feet. And he’s way more dangerous than Kamaru. Way more crispy, the hands are quicker, the kicks are good.”

He concluded by saying how Edwards would outstrike Covington in the fight. “I think he’s going to be able to defend the takedowns and kind of out strike (Covington) because of his precision and he’s got a power, a lot of pop on the kicks and a lot of pops on the hands too so I do think Leon is going to win. I don’t think it’s going to be easy but, I think he’s gonna get it done.”

‘Durinho’ is set on picking Leon Edwards as his fighter to win the welterweight strap, and his reasons are valid. MMA math doesn’t really work, but if it did, Edwards would be the better fighter, especially after his performance against Usman. UFC welterweight Stephen Thompson also had a similar take on the fight for the welterweight strap.

Both Covington and Edwards have fought Kamaru Usman in the past. But both had very different outcomes. Stephen Thompson compared how Usman beat Covington in the past and how that could be a factor determining the winner of the fight.

He believes that Edwards’ size against Covington would play a big factor in the fight. ‘Wonderboy’ also believes that Covington and Usman have similar fighting styles. This is why Edwards will have an answer to the puzzle named Covington. Both ‘Dourinho’ and ‘Wonderboy’ had identical takes on the main event of UFC 296.
