Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal have a lot in common. The former best friends turned foes were roommates, ATT teammates, and spent a lot of time together. Another interesting shared thing about the two is that both of them suffered two title fight defeats to UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman.

Though the outcome of their bouts was the same, the bouts were completely different. While Usman got a dominant decision and a knockout win in the two matches against Jorge Masvidal, Covington took ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ to the limit in his KO and decision losses.
In a recent interview, 1-on-1 on Stephen A’s World, the two shared their thoughts on each other’s performances against the welterweight champion.

Covington labeled Masvidal as the journeyman and pointed out his defeats to various lesser-known fighters. Thus, ‘Chaos’ suggested that ‘Gamebred‘ wouldn’t be able to beat him, as he is the “number one pound-for-pound fighter.”
Masvidal snapped at his claim and said, “Usman just beat the sh*t out of you. You dumb f**k. Usman just beat the sh*t out of you.”
“In the metaverse, you are the f**king number one. How are you the number one, when you just got your a** whooped, how are you number one?”

‘Chaos‘ referenced Masvidal’s knockout loss to Usman and kept saying, “Are you still sleeping, you still sleeping. Hey fragile dude, hey fragile dude, you still sleeping… I’m take a nap, just like Jorge. I’m sleeping…”
Masvidal answered, “Usman beat me. I know that. But I’m not going around saying I’m the pound for pound number one.”
Kamaru Usman knocked out Jorge Masvidal at UFC 261
‘The Nigerian Nightmare‘ dominated Jorge Masvidal in their first match at UFC 251. However, the Fight Island victory didn’t satisfy the champion. Thus, in the rematch at UFC 261, the pound-for-pound king got the better of the striker, Jorge Masvidal, on the feet and secured a spectacular finish in the second round (1:02).
On paper, that is the only difference as two both men had one unanimous decision defeat against the champion, and both were also finished once. However, Masvidal got finished earlier in the bout.
