Former two-time UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones recently revealed his interest in fighting AEW star Jake Hager in a grappling match. According to Jones, the fight between the Former WWE World Heavyweight champion and him was planned to go down on December 9th. Jake also seemed interested in participating in this bout.
Additionally, Bellator MMA also signed Jake, where he competes in the heavyweight division. Meanwhile, Jones had also shared his plans to make a heavyweight debut after vacating his UFC light heavyweight title back in 2020.
However, recently Jones roasted Hager for allegedly turning down a grappling match with him. In a recent tweet, he shared his disappointment, and said,” You had the opportunity of a lifetime”

Will the Jon Jones and Jake Hager grappling match ever happen?
Although Jon revealed that Hager hasn’t agreed to the fight, ‘Jack Swagger’ thinks otherwise. He touched on this topic while making his appearance on the latest “AEW Unrestricted” podcast. He talked about how Jones reached out to Josh Rafferty for a wrestling-submission match in New Jersey.
Hager also shared,” Yeah, you’re the greatest of all time, but you’re not going to take me down. I was very excited about it. It seemed like it was going to go down. He jumped the gun early on, tweeting it out before we had any details. As far as I know, it’s still in the works, maybe January 9th now. We’ll see.”

If both parties agree with each other’s terms, the fight is a possibility in the near future. If not, we may see Jon Jones making his much-awaited UFC heavyweight debut first. ‘Bones’ is speculated to fight against the winner of the UFC 270 main event fight between Francis Ngannou and Ciryl Gane. But nothing can be confirmed as of now.
