The tension in the air was palpable as the fight started between Dustin Poirier and Islam Makhachev at UFC 302. The main event had the fans at the edge of their seats in the Prudential Centre in New Jersey. Dustin Poirier was ready to “finish his story” in this fight and wanted to champion against Islam Makhachev. With the crowd chanting Poirier’s name the fans wanted to see ‘The Diamond’ win this bout and get the undisputed lightweight title to his name, with his daughter in attendance!

The buildup to the clash was intense and so was the fight! Ultimately, in the fifth round, Makhachev won the fight via submission. The crowd, including Poirier’s wife and friends, saw this but another individual also saw her father fight tooth and nail. It was Poirier’s daughter who looked pretty distraught by the fight, but her dad came to her rescue!

Dustin Poirier’s daughter, Parker Noelle Poirier, was in the front row at UFC 302 to see her dad fight for the undisputed lightweight title. This was a very special moment because it was the first time that his daughter came to see him fight and ‘The Diamond’ did this to show her that she could fulfill her dreams just like her dad.

However, Poirier Junior was pretty taken aback by the whole ordeal and a recent video on X showed how Poirier consoled her while Jolie Parker, his wife comforted him. Poirier ran to his sobbing daughter and immediately hugged her and asked if she was okay. The father and daughter shared an adorable kiss and lots of love which was a wholesome moment for all those watching!

Poirier’s family is surely proud of his record of 30 wins however his post-fight Octagon speech with Joe Rogan was a tear-jerker. The 35-year-old declared that he could still compete against other fighters however he also became candid about his stance on fighting.

During the post-fight interview, he declared clearly that he did not want to fight just for the sake of fighting and said this could be it. He said, “I don’t know. I got a little girl I love, and I gotta see. I think this could be it, honestly, Joe.”

‘The Diamond’ also addressed his daughter and gave her a heartfelt message through his speech. He dedicated his hard work and achievements to all the women in his life, which included his grandmother, his mother, his wife, and his daughter. He said to his little one, “And to Parker, Daddy’s fine. I love you so much. I’m so proud of you. We alright, baby. Always chase your dreams. It’s a beautiful thing.”

The present 4th ranking fighter surely has a lot of grit left in him, but ultimately it’s his call whether he wants to continue or not! Let’s see what ‘The Diamond’ decides.
