Stipe Miocic is one of the greatest heavyweight fighters in the UFC. In fact, if Dana White is to be believed, he’s too great for championship titles. The fighter was most recently scheduled to appear in the cage against Jon Jones. However, now that the fight has been called off, new details are pouring out.

Some fights are worth their weight in gold. Miocic vs Jones just happens to be one of them. However, it doesn’t necessarily need to involve all the gold according to Dana White. The UFC 295 fight was meant to be one of the greatest fights of the year.

However, recently, Jon Jones had to pull out of the fight. Miocic’s fearsome opponent ended up with a torn pectoral tendon. This made it impossible for him to go through with the fight. As a result, the card was pulled entirely and now even Miocic won’t be appearing. Nevertheless, White still had big words for the fighter and the fight.

“Stipe is not fighting for an interim title,” said White. “So Jones said ‘I wanna fight Stipe’ I said ‘you’re fighting Stipe’ you have the greatest heavyweight of all time versus the greatest mixed martial artist of all time. This is a legacy fight for both of those guys. I mean to even call Stipe and ask Stipe to fight for an interim title is complete disrespect.”

Clearly, the fight was far above any title in the UFC right now. However, with the fight not on the cards anymore, when will the two giants lock horns? As of right now, Jones is gravely injured. He was already on the verge of retirement before the fight. Will he stay with the UFC still?
