Conor McGregor and former teammate Artem Lobov had a fallout after the 36-year-old Russian fighter claimed to have had an input in starting the business of Proper Twelve whiskey. Lobov was then removed from the company. This boiled down to a lawsuit for the ‘Notorious.’
Conor McGregor became the richest fighter in UFC after he sold his stakes along with two other investors for $600 million. He was sued by Artem Lobov due to a breach of an agreement. The Russian fighter claims that McGregor owed him 5 percent of the total amount he made from selling his shares. However, McGregor has denied all these claims.

Artem Lobov’s first attempt at taking legal action failed. The Irish Commercial Court rejected the petition. The High Court, which usually takes more time to deliver a verdict, took charge of the lawsuit. McGregor has repeatedly taken shots at the ‘Russian Hammer’ on social media. He even called Lobov a “rat“.
Conor McGregor takes another jibe at Artem Lobov
Artem Lobov‘s reason for a second attempt at suing Conor McGregor was the latter’s insulting Twitter posts against the Russian fighter. Lobov said McGregor inflicted a “concerted social media barrage” against him. The 34-year-old’s post calling Lobov a ‘rat’ also involved the Irishman challenging the latter in an actual fight. McGregor, however, took another shot at Artem Lobov on Twitter.
This time McGregor took his “rat” insult to another level. In a now-deleted tweet, the former double division champ posted a video in which he could be seen playing with a toy that could play back recorded messages. The toy shook around and kept repeating a song that said: “Artem is a rat.”

Lobov wanted all these allegedly defamatory social media posts removed, according to his lawsuit. Meanwhile, the judge of the High Court, Justice Garrett Simons, made his verdict on the issue. He declared that these tweets were not defamatory and that “reasonable” people would not pay much importance to them.

The court didn’t seem satisfied with the usage of the term “rat” to be defamatory. They believed that it didn’t go beyond “vulgar abuse“. McGregor has always maintained his stance as the one who tirelessly curated and developed the brand ‘Proper Twelve’ and now has won the lawsuit. What are your thoughts on Artem Lobov‘s claims?
