Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal are not only one of the biggest stars in the welterweight division but are also one of the most bitter rivals in the UFC. The two were once the best of friends and now they are ready to take each other’s heads in the octagon.

The two will take each other on inside the octagon and will headline at UFC 272. The event will go down at the iconic T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Colby Covington will be walking into the fight with a very special token given to him by the Miami Beach Police Department. In a recent video posted by UFC on their YouTube channel, Covington details his experience with the department and shows off ‘his special flag.’

The Miami Beach Police Department presented Covington with a special flag with the signatures of the members for all their departments as a token for his upcoming bout. Furthermore, Covington revealed he will be walking into the octagon with this flag over his shoulders at UFC 272.

‘Chaos’ said, “we got some signatures of all the Miami Beach Police Department, the SWAT, the K-9 unit, you know, the motor unit. This is gonna be the flag that I walk out to the octagon with. I’m gonna fight hard for them and make sure that they’re inspired as much as they inspire me.”

Covington has always shown his love and support to the military and police forces of his country and often pays them his respect when the camera is rolling.

How did Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal turn into rivals?

Covington and Masvidal were once the best of friends and called each other their brothers. Both of them trained together at American Top Team.

However, things took a turn for the worse when Covington won the UFC interim title belt and refused to pay his striking coach, Paulino Hernandez.

Paulino Hernandez helped Masvidal train from the start of his career and also helped him get out of the streets and become what he is today. When Covington refused to pay Hernandez, Masvidal decided that it was time to cut ties with him.

However, Covington claims that this story is ‘fake news’ and that Masvidal is just trying to beef with him.
