Chael Sonnen is undoubtedly the most talked-about MMA fighter on the planet. Even after retirement, Sonnen never fails to make news headlines. ‘The Bad Guy’ is known for his extrovert opinions on MMA podcasts, analysis, and fighters. In a recent chat with Ariel Helwani, Sonnen was ‘annoyed’ with the Canadian holding a pencil in his hand during the show. The duo shared a healthy banter on the same.

Sonnen said, “You wanna know another fight… that’s gonna happen in 2021 soon? It’s between me and that damn pencil you’re holding. I don’t get the pencil, you’re not writing anything down. I’ve seen people do this with a pen, I don’t know why you have a pencil! It looks like a very new pencil, I don’t think you’ve ever used it, I notice that eraser is brand new, I think that’s a problem, and I’m not sure, it’s actually ‘kinda driving me crazy.”

When Helwani questioned Sonnen as to whether it annoyed him, he replied, “Yeah, the pencil is very likely to go down sooner than you might think.

Helwani believed that the pencil irked Sonnen because it brought back a few bad anecdotes of bullying from his high school time. Later, Sonnen labeled Helwani as an “iPhone guy” and questioned him about his use of a pencil. Furthermore, he advised him not to use an eraser and as it’s not a ‘math class’.

Sonnen always popped on Twitter on anything pertaining to Mike Bisping. On another occasion, he reacted to ‘The Count’s TUF selection as a coach. He said, “Viewers: Prepare for the first season of TUF where both coaches speak English, and the show still needs subtitles…”

The veteran had a different equation for Anderson Silva and took a jibe at ‘The Spider’s’ inefficient fluency in English. He tweeted, ”Anderson just fired up Ed Soares and replaced him with a Translation App he got on his phone for $14.95.”
